**District Judge Edward R. Korman** was appointed to the Eastern District of New York by President Ronald Reagan in 1985. Before his federal appointment, Judge Korman served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York from 1978 to 1982, then was a partner at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan (1982–1984) and of counsel (1984–1985) while also serving as a Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School (1984–1985). His earlier career at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York included roles as Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney (1974–1978) and Assistant U.S. Attorney (1970–1972). He also served as Assistant to the Solicitor General (1972–1974).
