About United States District Judge Jeremy D. Kernodle

**District Judge Jeremy D. Kernodle** was appointed to the Eastern District of Texas by President Donald Trump in 2018. He was nominated on January 23, 2018, confirmed by the Senate on October 11, 2018, and received his commission on November 2, 2018. Before his appointment, Judge Kernodle was a partner at Haynes and Boone, where he founded and chaired the firm's False Claims Act practice group. He also served as an attorney-advisor in the Office of Legal Counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice from 2005 to the time he joined Haynes Boone. Earlier in his career, he practiced appellate and commercial litigation at Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C., and clerked for Judge Gerald Bard Tjoflat of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. In 2024, Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. appointed Judge Kernodle to serve on the Committee on Codes of Conduct of the Judicial Conference of the United States. **Education** - Vanderbilt University Law School, J.D., with highest honors, first in class, 2001 - Harding University, B.A. and B.B.A., summa cum laude, 1998 **Career** - Law clerk to Hon.
